Marcotte Consulting Announcement

Marcotte Consulting made a significant donation of food irradiation research files, technical and historical documents to the National Agriculture Library (NAL) of the United States Department of Agriculture, Beltsville Maryland. The collection, included over 20 boxes of food irradiation petitions, papers, pamphlets, books and records.

Michelle Marcotte of Marcotte Consulting collected these materials in over 25 years of working as a food irradiation consultant, but particularly in the years when online research resources were not as complete, and during the preparation of food irradiation petitions. The majority of early food irradiation research is still not available online, so this collection can continue to make a significant contribution to research needs. The Marcotte Consulting collection will be added to the Special Collection on Food Irradiation at the NAL and will be available to assist researchers at the USDA library. In addition, smaller donations in the field of the development of regulation for functional foods and the adoption of methyl bromide alternatives under the Montreal Protocol on Ozone Depleting Substances were made at the same time. This collection will assist researchers in the fields of food technology, radiation processing, regulatory development and methyl bromide alternatives.
